Philosophy

This clan is like no other. Some of us have no intention of being in competition with any other clans, although by chance it may happen. Yeah, we're all lagged, but this clan is mostly about having fun. Too many clans get wrapped up in the "We are better than you" attitude. Our guys just get out there and have a blast. Of course, that doesn't mean we're not better than you. :)

This clan is also about standing up and coming forward with your opinion on internet Quake play - The truth should be known. T1 and isdn players should NOT be playing people with extremely lagged ppp accounts. Quake is great over the internet, even with the lag problems most of us face. But it is most definitely NOT great when 500 ms ping players are going up against 60-100 ms ping players. Joining this clan means you understand that when someone who has a low ping is leading the game, it is likely that they are winning because of their ping advantage. Joining this clan also means that you will obey a server op's request to designate a server as being for HPB or LPB players.

This clan has been around since the early days, and is quite large. Because of the size of this clan, our members can choose to be independents that help out on servers whenever they can, or they can form/join divisions for more integrated team strategies with familiar team members. It is a very open and flexible structure. All new applicants start out as independents. While there is an extensive application and review process to get in as an independent, you can definitely expect division leaders to be more concerned about your skill. Being an independent does not mean you will never get any competition in, it only means you are not tied to a schedule. Divisions are always looking for back-up players or someone to practice against.

At this point in time we only want "active" members. Previous to July 1997, we allowed inactive members to remain in the clan but that has changed. If by chance you make it into the roster, don't expect to stay there if we never see you on any servers or if we never chat with you on irc.

The Lagitus War Slogan - "We're dedicated to kicking T1 ass!" Of course, it doesn't happen much, but it's satisfying when it does. Some of us play only those with similar pings, while some other members specificly search the servers for LPB's to beat. We all know that a win is so much sweeter when the guys you're up against have pings 1/4 of what you have. Some of us are good enough to make it happen. Muahahaha!.

Overheard in a lagged Quake game: "Look at us, we're lagged!"
Try saying the same thing in a drunken stupor after 18 beers: "Lagitus!"

Will other clans want to play us? They may see it this way: If they win, we were lagged so it doesn't mean much. But if they lose, it means they suck. ;)

Original pronunciation of Lagitus: Take 3 words, lag, it and us, and say them together with the emphasis on the first sylable. This is just a word that happened to pop in to my head when I decided to form a clan eons ago. Ok, ok... here's how I got the idea: When watching Road Runner/Wile E. Coyote cartoons, you know how sometimes at the beginning they will show a freeze frame and have some Latin-esque words underneath, like blazingus fastus or starvingus coyotus... well at one time before I started the clan, I was playing well then had a massive disconnect symbol and I just stood there in place. I then imagined the word Lagitus appearing underneath me. Hehe. But, other members, not knowing the Road Runner origins of the name, assumed that the name was a parody of the word arthritis and pronounced it accordingly with the emphasis on the second sylable. After all, when you're lagged to hell you feel this great pain and it's hard to move. You can say it however you feel like, but to me it will always be Lag it us.

Get screenshots of your scores, even if you're losing. But also.. in regular Quake, go to the console, do a ping, and get a screenshot of that too! If you only lost by a few, and you're up against sub-100 pings, I'd call it a win! In QuakeWorld and Quake 2, pay attention to the ping on the score screen to get a real idea of who is performing well.

Our members exchange strategies and tips to help each other out. We're not going to go into detail here but... Can you say "I am a master of the art of prediction through opponent strategy analyzation of common paths and routines"?
